  The School of Geoscience and Surveying Engineering has a national key discipline of “Mineral Prospecting and Exploration”, a national key cultivating discipline of “Geodetics and Surveying Engineering” , two Beijing municipal key disciplines of “Geological Resources & Geological Engineering” and “Geodetics & Surveying Engineering”, 3 first-grade disciplines conferring Doctor Degrees and post-doctoral research stations including “Geological Resources & Geological Engineering”, “Surveying and Mapping Science and Technology”and“Geology”, 3 specially appointed professors by the name of “Cheung Kong Scholar Program”, 17 second-grade disciplines conferring Doctor Degrees, 21 second-grade disciplines conferring Master Degrees, 2 fields conferring Master of Engineering, and 5 undergraduate programs.

  The School of Geoscience and Surveying Engineering has a total of 61 faculty and staff members, including 1 member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 24 professors, 12 associate professors, and 4 senior engineers. In this School, there are 3 winners of the National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation, 3 special appointed professors by the name of “Cheung Kong Scholar Program” and 5 doctoral dissertations have been selected as Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation in China.

  Based on the National Key Laboratory of Coal Resources and Safe Mining, the School of Geoscience and Surveying Engineering has formed its disciplines with distinctive features and strength, and has achieved fruitful results. Currently, the School undertakes more than 40 major projects of national science and technology and key scientific research projects including “973” Project. Over the past three years, the School has won 3 National Science and Technology Progress Awards and nearly 30 provincial and ministerial Scientific and Technology Progress Awards.

  In 2012, the School of Geoscience and Surveying Engineering has a total of 1375 students, including 267 doctoral students, 536 master students, 572 undergraduates and 33 post-doctors. The School attaches great importance to the comprehensive training of students’ moral character, fundamental knowledge, research capability and innovation awareness. A variety of honors and awards of both university level and Beijing municipal level have been awarded to the School for its achievements.
