The Marxist College of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) was established in May 2009. It is the support unit of the teaching Department of ideological and political theory, the Marxist theoretical research institution, and the Marxist theoretical discipline.
The college has formed a focused, distinctive and multi-level system for talent training and disciplinary development. It has a doctoral program in the first-level discipline of Marxist Theory. There are four second-level disciplines, namely, “Ideological and Political Education”, “Basic Principles of Marxism”, “The Study of Marxism in China”, and “The Study of Basic Issues in Modern and Contemporary Chinese History”.
The college has formed a teaching and scientific research system with reasonable structure and regular layout. The college has two scientific research platforms,“Rural Revitalization Research Center” and “Mining Civilization Research Center”. In addition,six scientific research centers, namely, “Introduction to Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era”, “Ethics and the Rule of Law”, “Outline of Modern Chinese History”, “Basic Principles of Marxism”,“Introduction to MaoZedong Thought and Socialism with Chinese characteristics's Theoretical System”, and Situation and Policy. At the same time, it also offers one undergraduate course of “Ideological and Political Theory and Social Practice”, two master's courses of “Introduction to the Dialectics of Nature” and “The Study of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics”, and one doctoral course group of “Marxism in Contemporary China”. Teaching and research work on ideological and political theory courses for undergraduates, masters and doctoral students.
The college has a high-level faculty with deep academic cultivation, reasonable age structure, and excellent academic titles. There are 31 faculty members, 9 professors, 13 associate professors, 8 lecturers, and 23 part-time teachers of ideological and political theory courses. The college has 189 graduate students, including 54 doctoral students and 135 master students.
In the next few years, it is a key period for comprehensively enhancing the influence of the Marxist Institute of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing). All the faculty and staff of the college will strive to build the college into a high-level ideological and political theory course teaching and Marxism theory research institution that emphasizes both teaching and scientific research with full enthusiasm and high profile, and work hard for the early establishment of a world-class energy science and technology university.
