On the afternoon of January 9, our university held an online meeting with Montanuniversität Leoben in Austria. President Liu Bo, on behalf of our university, signed an agreement with Peter Moser, the President of Montanuniversität Leoben, and Thomas Prohaska, the Vice President in charge of international affairs, to jointly establish the CUMTB-MUL International Engineering College. Vice Presidents Cui Ximin and Wang Kai also attended the meeting.

Liu Bo stated that since the signing of the framework cooperation agreement between the two universities in 2012, they have established a deep friendship and mutual trust through years of high-quality exchange programs and degree program collaborations. In 2024, both parties also signed an agreement to jointly establish an International Joint Laboratory for New Energy Science and Technology. The signing of this agreement to jointly establish the CUMTB-MUL International Engineering College will help deepen cooperation between the two universities, establish a joint training mechanism that combines undergraduate and graduate education, and support technological innovation cooperation through joint talent cultivation, which will surely open up a new chapter in the cooperation between the two universities.

President Peter Moser said that he has witnessed the close cooperation between the two universities over the past decade. The joint establishment of the CUMTB-MUL International Engineering College is of great significance for promoting the disciplinary development of both parties and cultivating outstanding talents for the global energy industry. He hopes that both sides can quickly complete the curriculum alignment and all application material preparations, smoothly entering a new stage of cooperation between the two universities, and wishes all teachers a happy New Year.

The signing of this cooperative education agreement with Montanuniversität Leoben is an important measure taken by our university to implement the spirit of the "Decision" of the Third Plenary Session of the 20^thCentral Committee of the Communist Party of China, which encourages high-level foreign science and engineering universities to come to China for cooperative education, and to solidly promote the opening up of high-level education to the outside world.

Heads of the Academic Affairs Office, Graduate School, International Office, School of Energy and Mining Engineering, and School of Emergency Management and Safety Engineering also attended the meeting.
