At the opening ceremony of the conference, Liu Bo, President of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the host institution. Gao Ruiping, President of The Chinese Ceramic Society; Xie Wenlan, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission; and Miao Changwen, Honorary President of The Solid Waste and Ecological Materials Branch of The Chinese Ceramic Society and Professor at Southeast University, delivered speeches. Shi Zhenming, Vice President of Tongji University, also delivered a welcome address. Wang Dongmin, Professor at our university and President of The Solid Waste and Ecological Materials Branch of The Chinese Ceramic Society, presented the council work report.

This conference brought together more than 1,000 delegates from over 200 universities and research institutions, as well as more than 200 enterprises nationwide. The conference was live-streamed online, attracting 11,000 viewers for the opening ceremony, keynote speeches, and closing ceremony. Additionally, an online photo live stream was available, with 61,000 viewers browsing. Besides the 12 keynote speeches in the main hall, the conference also established 18 parallel sessions, including "Coal-based Solid Waste," "Construction Solid Waste," "Metallurgical Slag," "Tailings and Recycled Sand and Stone," "Industrial By-product Gypsum," "3D Printing," "Hazardous Solid Waste," "Alkali-activated Cementitious Materials," "Low-carbon Concrete," "Mineralized Materials," "Road Materials," "Admixtures," "Ecological Restoration Materials," "Organic-Inorganic Composite Resource Utilization," "Hydraulic Lime and Ancient Building Restoration Materials," "Industry-Academia-Research Forum," "High-end Forum for Young Scholars," and "Forum for Young Scholars," with a total of 309 special reports conducted. Concurrently, pre-conference events such as the "International Forum for Newly Minted PhDs" and "Graduate Student Forum" were held, featuring 95 reports and selecting 12 excellent graduate student reports. At the end of the conference, a flag-handing-over ceremony was held, and the hosting rights for the 7thAcademic and Technical Exchange Conference on Solid Waste Treatment and Ecological Materials were passed to Shenzhen University.

The conference established a high-level exchange platform for industry-academia-research-application collaboration, promoted interdisciplinary integration and technology commercialization, highlighted the crucial role of solid waste resource utilization in supporting the "dual carbon" strategy and driving the green and low-carbon transformation of building materials.
