From June 5 to 7, 2014 ISRM Conference on Soft Rocks was held in Beijing, with attendance of 139 delegates from dozens of countries around the world.

　　Yang Renshu, President of CUMTB, gave a general introduction of the university including its discipline strength and features as well as its scientific researches. He pointed out that this ISRM Conference on Soft Rocks was aimed to promote the theoretical and technical communication and cooperation on soft rocks among international experts and scholars, to further the aggregation of research forces and to advance the international technical process of soft rocks engineering.

　　A total of 85 essays written by experts and scholars from such countries as the U.S., Brazil, India and China were received, among which 59 were selected into the Proceeding CD of ISSR 2014. During the one-and-half day conference, a total of 20 well-known experts in this field made invited lectures and 18 made special reports.
