Professor He Manchao Elected to Chinese Academy of Sciences

  On the afternoon of Dec.19, Chinese Academy of Sciences released the result of the additional election of its membership and the election of the foreign membership on its official website. Professor He Manchao was enlisted as member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, among the 9 new members of the Division of Technological Sciences.

  He Manchao, male, was born in Lingbao City, Henan Province in May, 1956. He is a CPC member, expert in Mine Engineering and Rock Mechanics, member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and professor at CUMTB. He graduated from Changchun College of Geology with Bachelor degree and earned his Master degree from the same college in 1985. In 1989 he graduated from the Mechanics department at CUMTB with a Ph.D degree and was awarded the Honorary Ph.D degree by University of Mons, Belgium in 2011. He is now Director of the State Key Laboratory for GeoMechanics and Deep Underground Engineering, Chairman of China Team of International Society for Rock Mechanics, Vice President of Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering, Chairman of the Softrock Engineering and Deep Disaster Control Sub-society of CSRME. He is also Chief Scientist of the Major Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Chief Scientist of 973 Program and winner of National Outstanding Youth Scholar Fund.
