Ceremony for CUMTB’s 60th anniversary of running school in Beijing and opening of its Shahe campus was grandly held at 9:00 A.M. on May 26th. Yang Renshu, Chairman of the University’s Affairs Committee, President Qiao Jianyong, former university leaders Zhang Baojun and An Liqian jointly inaugurated the new campus.

With cheerful music, university leaders, together with members from faculties, administrative organs and logistics sector, walked to the square in front of the main building of the new campus in succession.

Prof. Yang Renshu announced sonorously that CUMTB had successfully purchased the Shahe campus and realized its dream to expand campus space. He expressed the wishes that all faculty members could take this chance to make persistent efforts to push CUMTB up to a higher stage and achieve CUMTB’s new success.

Escorted by six flag-bearers, the university’s flag, which conveys the dream of generations of CUMTB people, slowly passed the square with roars of applauses and the sound of music.

President Qiao Jianyong addressed on the ceremony. He briefly reviewed CUMTB’s splendid 60-year history of running school in Beijing and the process of purchasing the Shahe campus. He also explained the importance of the launch of Shahe campus and the implication of the new century dream of CUMTB.

Porf. Dai Shifeng, Deputy Director of State Key laboratory of Coal Resources and Safe Mining, and Huang Qing, Vice President of Students’ Union, made speeches on behalf of teachers and students. In the end, more than 400 teachers and students, guided by university leaders, looked around the new campus and enjoyed the fine view there cheerfully.
