ICCP-TSOP Joint Meeting Held for the First Time in China

From September 15 to 24, the joint meeting of the 64th Annual Meeting of the International Committee for Coal and Organic Petrology and the 29th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Organic Petrology (ICCP-TSOP) sponsored by CUMT-Beijing was held in Beijing. This is the first time that this joint meeting had ever been held in Asia and developing countries, reflecting the important position and role of the Chinese energy science in the field of the world energy science.
More than 100 scholars from over 20 countries and regions including the United States, Canada, Germany, Australia and Spain attended the meeting, and made discussions and exchanges on traditional fossil energy of coal, petroleum and coal bed methane and other international hot issues such as shale gas and etc.
President QIAO Jianyong addressed the opening ceremony, believing that the annual meeting would effectively expand the international influence of CUMT-Beijing in the field of science and technology, improve the international reputation of Chinese research institutes and enterprises, and thus have an important academic significance on the development of related disciplines.
President Dr. Isabel Suarez-Ruiz, and Chairman of the ICCP, Professor Petra David expressed thanks in their speeches for the excellent organization of the meeting by CUMT-Beijing. Professor DAI Jinxing, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences made a conference theme report entitled “the Important Role of Coal-hydrocarbon Research for China’s Natural Gas Industry”.
The International Committee for Coal and Organic Petrology is the only international organization to develop standards and terminology of international coal petrology. The International Society for Organic Petrology is the most influential international institute for coal geology, organic petrology, coal bed methane, shale gas geology, kerogen petrology, and organic geochemistry.
