On the afternoon of December 31, 2019, theuniversityheld a staff meeting to summarize the work of 2019 and deploy the workfor2020.Party Secretary of CUMTB Xu Xiaomin delivered a speech. Ge Shirong, President and deputy secretary of the Party Committee, presided over the meeting.

In his speech, Xu Xiaomin summarized the university’s work of 2019, especially the 110th anniversary of the university, and made plans for the key work in 2020. Xu Xiaomin pointed out that 2020 is the year to complete the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects and the end of the“13th Five-Year”Plan. The university will focus on seven key tasks: First, under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, we will comprehensively strengthen the leadership of the Party Committee overtheuniversity work. Second, we should adhere to the fundamental task of cultivatingstudentswith moral integrity and improve the quality of talent training. Third, we will comprehensively enhance our ability of innovation and development, and constantly improve the academic level ofCUMTB. Fourth, we should improve the personnel management system and promote the strategy of strengthening the university with talents. Fifth,we need to strengthen social service and cooperation, improve the university’s social service ability. Sixth,we will strengthen the standardization of management, improve the level of school management services. Last, We should promote the people’s livelihood project, enhance the sense of happiness ofstaffsand students.

Ge Shirong emphasized the relevant work when presiding over the meeting. He pointed out that we should firmly seize the two development opportunities of building a powerful country through higher education and vigorously promoting the energy revolution, actively integrate into the national strategy of “DoubleFirst-Class”, and implement the fundamental task of cultivating talents with morality; we should speed up the building of a world-class university of energy science and technology; in terms of tactics, we should explore new fields with strengthening existing ones,gatheringmore external forces withpoolinginternal power. We should follow the thought of doing better in details, focusing on strength and quality, with priority on developing a group of first-class disciplines, building a team of high-quality professors, and introducing high-level talents, so as to effectively tackle development challenges and strive to build a world-class university of energy science and technology.
