CUMTB Postgraduates Excel in Inaugural National Mine AI Competition

On January 6, the final and award ceremony of the first National Mining AI Competition of Coal Industry, jointly organized by China Coal Society, China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) and Huawei Technologies Co Ltd, was held in Beijing. A total of four CUMTB teams entered the final with one grand prize, one first prize and two second prizes.
Based on real scenarios and focusing on the problems and challenges of front-line production in mines, the Mine AI Competition takes mine intelligent scenario innovation as its core and builds a modeling platform for technical exchanges, talent cultivation, and co-creation of opportunities in order to realize the goal of “less manned, unmanned, safe, and efficient” in mines. The competition was completed through Huawei’s mine AI modeling platform.
The competition attracted a total of 389 teams and 1,460 applicants, and 15 teams made it to the finals, including representatives from universities featured in the mining, such as China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), China University of Mining and Technology, Taiyuan University of Science and Technology and Xi’an University of Science and Technology, as well as comprehensive universities including University of Science and Technology of China, Shandong University,and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. After the roadshow and defense, the competition competed for 1 grand prize, 2 first prizes, 4 second prizes, and 8 third prizes.
