CUMTB Launches Two New Undergraduate Programs

The Ministry of Education recently issued the "Announcement of the Ministry of Education on the Release of the Record and Approval Results of Undergraduate Majors in Ordinary Colleges and Universities in 2021" (No.14, Letter from the Higher Education Department[2021]). Two undergraduate majors, Carbon Storage Science and Engineering, and Intelligent Construction, proposed by CUMTB have been approved for addition. The plan is to commence enrollment for these majors this year.

CUMTB, as one of the initiating institutions for the application of the Carbon Storage Science and Engineering program, has been approved as one of the first universities to offer this major. The Carbon Storage Science and Engineering program is led by School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, in collaboration with School of Energy and Mining, School of Earth Science and Surveying Engineering,andSchool of Mechanics and Architectural Engineering, among other participating schools. The Intelligent Construction program is declared and developed by School of Mechanics and Architectural Engineering.

In recent years, guided by the directives of the Party Committee of CUMTB, the university has proactively served national strategies, regional economic and social development needs, and industrial advancements. It has actively undertaken the optimization, adjustment, upgrading, replacement, and establishment of new majors to enhance the adaptability of the major structure to the university's educational positioning and distinctive features. Breaking down disciplinary barriers, the university has introduced new majors that promote interdisciplinary integration and strategically planned the professional structure to enhance competitiveness. Moving forward, the university will strengthen the construction and management of these new majors, ensuring their development level and the effectiveness of talent cultivation, with a continuous commitment to improving the quality of talent training.
