Recently, the results of the 2022 "Outstanding Environmental Public Welfare Organization" and "Green Life Good Citizen" selection activities were announced. The "Practice and Understanding" Volunteer Service Team of China University of Mining and Technology-Beijing was awarded the title of "Outstanding Environmental Public Welfare Organization". The award-winning service project is "Leading the Way in Volunteerism for Waste Sorting, Safeguarding Ecology, and Building Civilization Together".

The "Practice and Understanding" Volunteer Service Team, in community environmental public welfare activities, adopts a combination of online and offline methods. Online activities include surveys and publicity through community public accounts and WeChat groups. Offline activities involve questionnaire surveys and community visits. Volunteers assist waste sorting instructors in guiding residents in waste sorting, maintaining the cleanliness of waste disposal points, and guiding residents through communication to improve waste sorting. They also promote waste sorting knowledge. The volunteer team organizes various games and activities, such as painting manhole covers and waste sorting quizzes, and proposes a point redemption system to motivate residents. On March 5th, during the National Lei Feng Day, the manhole cover painting event organized by the volunteer team was reported by Beijing TV.

Since its establishment three years ago, the "Practice and Understanding" Volunteer Service Team at China University of Mining and Technology-Beijing has achieved several honors, including the title of "Outstanding Volunteer Service Team" from the China Soong Ching Ling Youth Science and Culture Exchange Center in 2019 and 2022. They also won the bronze award in the 2021 Capital Voluntary Service Project Competition, and received the Capital's Best Volunteer Service Project award in the "Five 100s" Advanced and Exemplary of the 2021 Capital Lei Feng Voluntary Service event. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the team actively contacted hospitals, forming the "Care Plan" online tutoring volunteer team to provide "many-to-one" volunteer services for the children of medical staff. Since February 24, 2020, the activity has conducted four phases, accumulating a total volunteer service duration of 4559 hours. The initiative has received recognition and praise from medical staff, healthcare professionals, and various sectors of society, and has been reported by the official media of "China Youth Volunteers".
