CUMTB Clinches Second Prize in the 17th “Challenge Cup” National College Students’ Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Contest

On March 28, the 17th “Challenge Cup” National College Students’ Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Contest concluded, co-hosted by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, China Association for Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, National Association of Students, and the People's Government of Sichuan Province, with Sichuan University as the organizer. Three works from our university advanced to the national competition's main event for the first time. Notably, the work titled "Research on the Influencing Factors of Public Opinion Reversal Events based on the Spiral Theory of Silence - A Case Study of the Xiao Fengya Incident" earned a national second prize, marking the best performance in the university's competition history and achieving a new breakthrough.In addition,CUMTB received the "Excellent Organization Award for the 17th National 'Challenge Cup' Competition Special Activities (Special Competition)," and Aibo was honored with the title of "Excellent Organizer".

Under the guidance of the University's leading group for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education, CUMTB initiated preparations in January 2021. The event, sponsored by CUMTB Youth League Committee and co-organized by Office of Student Affairs, Office of Academic Affairs, Graduate School, Institute of Science and Technology, and various schools (departments), was hosted by the University Student Science and Technology Association. In the preliminary stage, a total of 155 projects were proposed, drawing participation from 751 students and 137 instructors, doubling the number of entries compared to the previous edition. Following rigorous rounds of cultivation and screening, 15 selected projects represented the university in the main competition of the Capital's "Challenge Cup." The university achieved outstanding results, securing 2 special prizes, 2 first prizes, 3 second prizes, and 7 third prizes. The collective score placed the university amongTop10in Beijing. Notably, the university clinched the "Winning Cup" title for the first time and received the inaugural "Excellent Organization Award," marking several breakthroughs. Furthermore, in the three special competitions of "Red Practice," "Science and Technology Winter Olympics," and "Reveal the List and Appoint the Leader" the university garnered 1 special prize, 2 first prizes, 7 second prizes, and 38 third prizes.
