In October 2023, during the 15^th international ISRM Congress 2023 held in Salzburg, Austria, the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM) announced and presented the ISRM Young Rock Engineer Award. Professor Wang Qi, Vice Director of the National Key Laboratory of Prevention and Control of Tunnel Engineering Disasters and Intelligent Construction and Maintenance at China University of Mining and Technology-Beijing, was honored with the "ISRM Young Rock Engineer Award".

The ISRM Young Rock Engineer Award, organized by the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, is an annual international recognition presented to an individual who has made significant contributions to solving important engineering problems in the field of rock engineering. This award acknowledges young engineers who have demonstrated noteworthy innovation and outstanding performance in new materials and methods in rock engineering.
