On the morning of May 30th, a five-member delegation from Saint Petersburg Mining University (SPMU) in Russia, including Vladimir Borzenkov, Director General of the International Competence Centre for Mining Engineering Education under the Auspices of UNESCO, Dmitrii G. Petrakov, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, Evgeniy A. Lyubin, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, and Sergey Chernyadyev, Director of the News Center, visited our university for an exchange program. They were welcomed by President Academician Ge Shirong, Vice President Professor Liu Bo, and Vice President Professor Cui Ximin in Conference Room 200 of the First Office Building.

Ge Shirong, on behalf of the university, warmly welcomed the delegation from SPMU. He provided an overview of history of China University of Mining and Technology-Beijing (CUMTB) and its collaboration with international institutions. Ge Shirong expressed that the visit was a source of joy and emphasized the extensive potential for cooperation between CUMTB and SPMU. Being both well-established mining universities, he hoped that through deeper understanding and practical collaboration, the two universities could contribute to the mutual development of talents in the field of Sino-Russian energy cooperation. Vladimir Borzenkov expressed sincere gratitude for the warm reception and provided information about the history and influence of SPMU.

After the meeting, the delegation visited several key facilities on campus. They toured the National Key Laboratory of Coal Resources and Safe Mining, the State Key Laboratory of Deep Rock Mechanics and Underground Engineering, as well as the Intelligent Mining Laboratory at the Shahe Campus.

Saint Petersburg Mining University is Russia's inaugural engineering higher education institution, marking a significant milestone in the country's history. Within Russia's geological and mining academic landscape, the university proudly holds an indisputable leadership position, symbolizing the pinnacle of excellence among similar institutions nationwide. In 2009, it was chosen as one of the initial 12 national research universities in Russia. The university encompasses 9 faculties, including Energy Faculty, Mining Faculty, Oil and Gas Faculty, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and Geological Exploration Faculty.
