CUMTB Students Excel in the 1st Beijing University Student Metallographic Skills Competition and the 12th National University Student Metallographic Skills Competition Preliminary Round (Beijing Division)

The “Leica, Sunny Optical Cup” inaugural Beijing University Student Metallographic Skills Competition, also serving as the preliminary round of the twelfth National University Student Metallographic Skills Competition (Beijing Division), concluded on July 8. This event hosted by the Beijing Competition Committee of the National University Student Metallographic Skills Competition and organized by North China University of Technology featured participation from 13 universities, including China University of Mining and Technology-Beijing, Tsinghua University, and North China University of Technology.
Under the meticulous guidance of teachers Ma Feng and Wang Qi, six participants from our university achieved outstanding results in the competition. Two students received first prizes, one received a second prize, and three received third prizes. Remarkably, one of the students who won a first prize secured the top spot in Beijing with the highest score. In addition to individual awards, our university also received a third prize in the team category. The three participants who won first and second prizes will represent our university in the national finals scheduled for August.
The National University Metallurgical Skills Competition, a nationwide event recognized by the Ministry of Education and ranked 32nd in the 2022 National College Student Competition Analysis Report, has been a notable success for our university. Since our debut in the competition in 2014, we have continuously accumulated skills training experience, improved experimental teaching methods, and achieved commendable results. In 2022, our university secured the 55th position in the medal standings among 483 participating institutions.
