Australian National University and AEMG Education Visit Our University for Exchange and Collaboration

On the afternoon of March 4th, representatives from Australian National University (ANU) and Australia Education Management Group (AEMG) visited our university for exchange and collaboration. The delegation from ANU included Professor Steve Eggins, Interim Dean of ANU College of Engineering, Computing and Cybernetics, Associate Professor Siva Karuturi, Associate Director - International of School of Engineering, Professor Sasha Mikheyev, Associate Dean (International) of College of Science, Jay Poria, Manager, International Relations & Partnerships-STEMM, and Arthur Xu, Deputy Manager, International Relations & Partnerships-STEMM. The AEMG delegation led by Professor Wang Jing, Executive Director of the Group, included members such as Duan Yucai, Assistant President of the Group and Executive Director Partnerships-China office, and Li Ziran, Head of Partnerships-China office. Vice President Cui Ximin met with the delegation at Room 200, No.1 Building. Representatives from the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, School of Artificial Intelligence, School of Science, and School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering attended the meeting.

On behalf of the university, Cui Ximin warmly welcomed the delegation and provided an overview of the university's history and development of key disciplines. He emphasized that our university had a solid foundation for cooperation with Australian universities, so this exchange would be an important starting point for collaboration between the two institutions. He expressed confidence that through this in-depth discussion, the three parties would identify opportunities for collaboration in various disciplines such as robotics, mathematics, and environmental engineering, and jointly promote the development of relevant fields.

Professor Steve Eggins expressed gratitude for the warm reception from the university and commended the academic and research achievements of the university. He emphasized that the Australian side highly values the application of fundamental disciplines in mechanical engineering, intelligent manufacturing, carbon neutrality, and other fields. He stated that this meeting would not only deepen the understanding between the two universities but also explore more potential pathways for future collaboration, thereby promoting the mutual improvement of international education levels between the two institutions.

Representatives from School of Artificial Intelligence, School of Science, and School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering of our university respectively introduced their teaching and research situations, and elaborated on their main research directions, research achievements, and future development plans. Representatives from Australian National University also introduced the disciplines and research directions of their College of Engineering and College of Science. Both sides discussed potential pathways for further cooperation through the AEMG.

Australian National University (ANU) is a public research-intensive university located in Canberra, the capital city of Australia. Established in 1946, it is renowned for being the birthplace of the first clinical application of penicillin and the development of the technology for photon teleportation. The university has produced six Nobel laureates and two Australian prime ministers. In the 2023 QS World University Rankings, it is ranked 30th globally.
