CUMTB Achieves Outstanding Results in the 2024 Beijing University Student Chemical Engineering Principles Competition

The 2024 Beijing University Student Chemical Engineering Principles Competition concluded on May 19. Under the guidance of the Chemical Engineering Principles teaching team, our university's representative team achieved excellent results. All ten students who participated in the finals won top prizes, with Huang Tiantian and Li Xingyu receiving the Special Prize in Group A. Lu Chanchan, Wu Nianqing, Jiao Jian, Yu Liuyang, Hu Mingwei, Ge Wenxin, Chen Jiashuo, and Yang Yujing won the First Prize. Our university's representative team also won the Group First Prize.

The Beijing University Student Chemical Engineering Principles Competition is hosted by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and organized by Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology. It is a competition for undergraduate students majoring in chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental science, materials science, and related fields. The competition aims to promote the upgrading of the “Chemical Engineering Principles” course and related courses in universities, facilitate teaching reform and inter-university exchanges, improve teaching quality, and foster students’ comprehensive abilities, innovative awareness, and teamwork spirit. It actively creates mechanisms and atmosphere conducive to the growth of innovative talents.

Since our university began participating in the competition in 2018, with strong support from the Academic Affairs Office, we have promoted discipline construction through competitions. Over the years, we have continuously strengthened the construction and teaching reform of the Chemical Engineering Principles course, enhanced the teaching team, improving teaching quality, and creating “golden courses” through exchanges with top domestic universities in the field of chemical engineering. As a result, our competition results have improved year by year, reflecting the students’ solid theoretical knowledge of chemical engineering principles and their strong abilities to analyze and solve problems. This is of great significance for cultivating innovative talents.
