Professor He Manchao Awarded ISRM Fellowship and Technical Innovation Award

On September 24, 2021, at the ISRM European Rock Mechanics Symposium (EUROCK) 2021 in Turin, Italy, the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM) held its annual awards ceremony. Professor Resat Ulusay, President of ISRM, conferred the title of ISRM Fellow 2021 upon Professor He Manchao from our university. The ISRM Fellow title is the highest honor bestowed by ISRM, recognizing individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of rock mechanics and rock engineering and have demonstrated exceptional service to the professional community through ISRM. Since its establishment in 2010, a total of 41 distinguished scholars globally have received this prestigious recognition. Among those honored alongside Professor He Manchao are Professor Eda Freitas de Quadros, Immediate Past President of ISRM, Professor Luís Ribeiro e Sousa, Former Vice President of ISRM, Professor Doug Stead, Former Vice President of ISRM and a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and Professor Håkan Stille, Fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.
At the same time, at the awards ceremony, Professor He Manchao's team from our university was honored with the 2021 ISRM Technological Innovation Award for their independent development of NPR anchor materials and critical technologies for remote monitoring and early warning of landslide disasters. The ISRM Technological Innovation Award, established by the ISRM Executive Council in 2019, recognizes ISRM corporate members who have made outstanding contributions to the application of rock mechanics and rock engineering. This award ceremony marks the inaugural presentation of this accolade, with Professor He Manchao's team being the first recipient.
