The library has solidly implemented the "Learn Party History and Do Practical Things" campaign, transforming educational achievements into service improvements for faculty and students. In order to enhance the automation level of library services, allowing readers to borrow and return books independently, and to pave the way for full library access, extensive research was conducted on library systems at peer institutions during the pandemic. Based on these findings and our university's specific needs with optimized budget utilization and efficiency, the library initiated the "Xueyuan Road Library RFID + Magnetic Strip Self-service Borrowing and Returning System Construction Project (Phase One)". This project successfully passed the inspection by the Office of Assets and Experimental Management on June 9 and has been officially put into operation, marking a significant milestone in enhancing our library's self-service capabilities.
The project targeting the Social Sciences book collections at the Xueyuan Road campus library was initiated on February 28, 2021. It successfully completed the processing of labels and data conversion for 340,000 volumes of books, installation and debugging of 2 self-service borrowing and returning machines, 1 set of dual-channel anti-theft devices, as well as the integration work between the self-service machines, Jinpan Library Management System, campus card system, gate software, and large screens. The library placed high importance on this initiative, with all departments collaborating closely to ensure the project was completed on schedule.
Implementation of this project has significantly enhanced the automation level of our library services, allowing readers to independently borrow and return books, thereby making the process more efficient and convenient. This project has laid a solid foundation for the full opening of the library to all users. Furthermore, its successful implementation has further integrated the study of party history with practical issues faced by faculty and students, effectively translating party history education into tangible actions. This has contributed to increasing overall satisfaction among faculty and students and has positioned us well to celebrate the centenary of the founding of the Party with outstanding achievements.
