On May 16, the Beijing regional finals of the 2021 National English Competition for College Students were held, and our university achieved outstanding results once again, with a total of 117 students winning awards. This year marked the first time our university simultaneously held competitions for both the English Major Category B and the Non-English Major Category C. In the English Major Category B competition, 1 student won the first prize, 3 students won the second prize, and 5 students won the third prize. In the Non-English Major Category C competition, 6 students won the first prize, 39 students won the second prize, and 63 students won the third prize.

Over 1,300 students from our university registered for the competition. The preliminary round took place on April 24 across 26 examination rooms at both the Shahe Campus and the Xueyuan Road Campus, with 5 rooms at the Xueyuan Road Campus and 21 rooms at the Shahe Campus. Teachers from the Foreign Language Department of School of Law and Humanities were fully involved in the event, handling registration, examination room arrangements, invigilation, and grading.

The National English Competition for College Students, approved by relevant departments of Ministry of Education, is the only national competition that comprehensively assesses college students' English abilities, aiming to promote the overall improvement of college students' English teaching and learning levels. Our students' enthusiastic participation in this competition not only sparks their interest in learning English but also promotes the advancement of English teaching at our university.
