CUMTB Signs Intercollegiate Cooperation Agreements with Multiple Renowned Universities

From the second half of 2020 through the beginning of 2021, despite the ongoing global spread of the COVID-19 pandemic posing challenges to international education and exchanges, our university actively engaged in online communication with overseas institutions to overcome difficulties together. During this period, we signed memorandum of understanding or inter-institutional cooperation agreements with several prestigious universities: Hanyang University in South Korea, University of Haifa in Israel, National University of Singapore, University of Washington and University of California, Riverside in the United States. These agreements aimed to explore channels for international educational exchanges.

The details of inter-institutional cooperation agreements signed since the second half of 2020 are as follows:

In October 2020, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Hanyang University in South Korea. Both universities agreed to promote educational cooperation and facilitate the enrollment of outstanding students through the "Hanyang University Red Lion Science Scholarship Program" to pursue degrees at Hanyang University.

In November 2020, an inter-institutional exchange agreement was signed with the University of Haifa in Israel. This agreement focuses on cooperation in scholar exchanges, joint research projects, collaborative teaching, and student management.

In December 2020, a cooperation agreement was signed with the National University of Singapore to develop academic, cultural, and social cooperation between the two institutions and enhance mutual understanding.

In January 2021, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the University of Washington Continuum College in the United States, outlining a collaboration primarily focused on course exchanges.

Recently, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the University of California, Riverside, establishing common academic interests and seeking collaboration and exchanges in mutually interested fields of expertise.

Hanyang University, founded in 1939, has evolved from a technical institute into a comprehensive university. It is accredited by AACSB and ranks 150thin the 2020 QS World University Rankings and 24thin Asia. According to the 2019 rankings by the Chosun Ilbo, it is the 3rdbest university in South Korea overall and holds the top position in engineering disciplines, often likened to "MIT of Korea." The university operates two campuses: Seoul Campus with 16 colleges and 62 departments, and ERICA Campus with 9 colleges and 45 departments.

Haifa University is the largest public research university in northern Israel and a member of the "China-Israel 7+7 Research Universities Alliance". Situated in Haifa, Israel's third-largest city, the campus offers breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea and is renowned as a birthplace for Israeli politicians and diplomats. The university comprises 6 faculties and 5 schools, encompassing nearly 70 departments. Haifa University is at the forefront of many academic disciplines, hosting numerous innovative research centers and institutions. Additionally, IBM has established its largest research center outside the United States at Haifa University. Its diverse and inclusive learning environment has earned Haifa University international recognition as a top-tier institution of higher learning.

The National University of Singapore (NUS), often abbreviated as NUS, is one of Singapore's foremost world-class universities, renowned globally for its excellence in engineering, life sciences and biomedical sciences, social sciences, and natural sciences. In the 2020 QS World University Rankings, NUS was ranked 11thglobally. Specifically, NUS's disciplines like engineering and technology, civil and structural engineering, chemical engineering, and geography all ranked within the top 10 in the 2020 QS World University Subject Rankings.

The University of Washington, founded in 1861 and located in Seattle on the west coast of the United States, is a globally renowned top-tier research university. In various 2020 global university rankings, it achieved notable positions: 26thin THE World University Rankings, 68thin QS World University Rankings, and 10thin US News World University Rankings. The University of Washington comprises 25 schools and colleges, offering over 250 undergraduate degree programs and 346 graduate degree programs. It houses more than 270 research centers and provides over 7,000 research positions for undergraduate students. Additionally, the university offers over 70 language courses. Among its various schools and colleges, several rank among the top 10 in the United States, including School of Medicine, School of Pharmacy, School of Social Work, School of Public Health, School of Dentistry, School of Nursing, School of Life Sciences, and School of Information Sciences.

The University of California, Riverside (UCR), is one of the ten campuses in the University of California system and is known for its rapid development. It is highly regarded for its rigorous academic standards and professionalism across various disciplines. UCR boasts one of the top agricultural science programs globally. In addition to its renowned agricultural science program, UCR's other departments also enjoy a strong reputation. The Bourns College of Engineering, School of Business Administration (including the renowned A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management), College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, and the Graduate School of Education are all well-respected for their contributions and achievements. Many departments across the university have reached world-class levels in their research endeavors.
