On November 22, the Beijing regional finals of the National English Competition for College Students were held, and our students achieved excellent results, with a total of 123 winners: 1 Special Prize, 8 First Prizes, 43 Second Prizes, and 71 Third Prizes. The Special Prize was awarded to Shen Yiyan, a 2019 Law student from the School of Law and Humanities, marking a breakthrough as the only student from our university to receive this honor in the past five years.
Due to the pandemic, the preliminary round of the National English Competition for College Students was postponed to October 25. Over 1,400 students from our university registered for the preliminary round, which was conducted simultaneously in 36 examination rooms across both the Shahe and Xueyuan Road campuses. The Xueyuan Road campus hosted 23 examination rooms, while the Shahe campus hosted 13. Teachers from the Foreign Language Department of the School of Law and Humanities were fully involved in organizing the event, including registration, examination room arrangements, invigilation, and grading.
The National English Competition for College Students, approved by relevant departments of the Ministry of Education, is the only national competition that comprehensively assesses college students' English abilities, aiming to promote the overall improvement of college students' English teaching and learning levels. Our students' enthusiastic participation in this competition not only sparks their interest in learning English but also promotes the advancement of English teaching at our university.
