Based on the notices from the Organizing Committee of Contemporary Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling regarding the "2020 HEP Cup Contemporary Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling", CUMTB School of Science actively organized and guided students to participate in both Group A and Group B competitions.
Faculty members from the School of Science, including Zhang Lei, Wu Nan, Tian Kai, Li Jingshuang, Zhang Liying, Guo Xiaoling, Guo Hongsong, and Qiao Jian, conducted internal selections from students who completed training. Ultimately, 54 teams (comprising 162 students in total, with each team consisting of 3 members) were sent to participate in this year's Contemporary Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling, marking a significant increase from last year's 30 teams.
Following expert evaluation, 1 team was awarded a National Second Prize, 7 teams received First Prizes from Beijing, and 9 teams were awarded Second Prizes from Beijing. Additionally, 34 teams received Successful Participation Awards. The number of teams awarded First Prizes increased from 3 in 2019 to 7 this year, resulting in a success rate of 94%.
Due to the impact of the pandemic, the mathematical modeling summer training session was conducted online. Guiding teachers assigned tasks through the online platform, and students submitted their competition papers on time. The online training sessions commenced on July 10th and occurred weekly thereafter.
