The 21stChina Graduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling was held from September 20 to 25, and the award ceremony was held at Shandong University from December 6 to 8. Two teams from our university won first prizes, three teams won second prizes, eight teams won third prizes, and 29 teams received successful participation awards. The number of first prize winning teams from our university has made a breakthrough, marking the best performance in history.

In recent years, the Graduate School has persisted in reforming the training model by strengthening foundations and fostering innovation. In the new graduate training program for 2024, an innovative training (academic competition) module has been specifically added, allowing graduate students to earn corresponding credits by participating in academic competitions. A special fund for the reform of graduate mathematics teaching has been established and financially supported to enhance the mathematical and physical knowledge level of engineering graduate students.

This year's contest was uniformly organized by the Graduate School and received strong support from various colleges. Before the contest, the School of Science formed a mathematical modeling contest guidance team, which guided graduate students through a series of activities such as monthly salons and expert lectures. Graduate students from across the university enthusiastically signed up, with a total of 47 teams participating. After several days of arduous efforts, 42 of these teams stood out among the fierce competition, leading to a significant improvement in our university's performance in this year's contest. One team from the School of Science and one team from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering won first prizes; one team from the School of Management and two teams from the School of Science won second prizes; one team from the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, one team from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and six teams from the School of Science won third prizes; and 29 teams from colleges such as Geodesy and Geomatics, and Artificial Intelligence received successful participation awards.

The China Graduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling is one of the theme competitions of the "China Graduate Innovation and Practice Series Competition" sponsored by the China Academic Degrees & Graduate Education Development Center (CDGDC) under the guidance of the Department of Graduate Education, Ministry of Education, and the Youth Science and Technology Center of the China Association for Science and Technology. It is an academic competition for graduate students to engage in mathematical modeling application research and practice, serving as a platform for graduate students to enhance their abilities to establish mathematical models and solve practical problems using internet information technology, as well as to cultivate their scientific research innovation spirit and teamwork awareness.
