From November 28 to December 4, President Liu Bo led a delegation to Australia and New Zealand, visiting the University of Western Australia, AEMG Education Group, University of Technology Sydney, and the University of Auckland. During the visits, cooperation agreements were signed with the University of Western Australia, University of Technology Sydney, and AEMG Education Group. A donation agreement for the "Graduate Certificate in Research Practice for Scientists and Engineers" was signed with the Australian Institute for Future Education (AIFE). Additionally, a consensus was reached with the University of Auckland on joint education programs in multiple engineering disciplines.

During the visit to the University of Western Australia, Liu Bo and his delegation met with Professor Anna Nowak, Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Tim Sercombe, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Ms. Rachel Darovic, Director of International Affairs. After hearing introductions from Vice Chancellor Nowak and others about the university's development history, strengths in various disciplines, and research achievements in the field of engineering, Liu Bo briefly introduced the university's discipline construction and scientific research in mining engineering, new energy science and technology, and carbon storage science and technology. He noted that this year marks the 10thanniversary of President Xi Jinping's state visit to Australia and the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Australia. The two universities have established a good foundation for cooperation in the past, and deepening cooperation in education and research is beneficial to the development of both parties and will also promote cultural exchanges and technological progress between China and Australia. Both sides agreed to carry out cooperation in student course exchanges, teacher training, and joint research platform construction in mining engineering, new energy science, and carbon neutrality technology, and jointly signed a cooperation agreement.

At the AEMG Education Group headquarters, President Liu Bo met with Professor Ian Young, Chairman of the Board and Chancellor of AIFE, Mr. Roger Li, President of the Group, and Professor Jenny Wang, Executive Director, among other management personnel. Liu Bo expressed sincere gratitude to AEMG Education Group for its efforts in promoting exchanges between our university and Australian universities over the years. He mentioned that the university has always been committed to improving the quality of graduate students. The "Academic Research Skills" single course, provided free of charge by AIFE to the university's first batch of graduate students, has already concluded and received positive feedback from students. The donation of the "Graduate Certificate in Research Practice for Scientists and Engineers" will surely benefit more graduate students. Both sides also discussed establishing a 1+N model for teaching and research cooperation between Chinese and Australian universities in the fields of new energy and safety engineering, and signed a course donation agreement after the meeting.

During the visit to the University of Technology Sydney, Liu Bo and his delegation first met with Vice Chancellor Iain Watt, Deputy Dean Eryk Dutkiewicz of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, and Director Connie Cui of the International Development Office. Both sides introduced their respective university's history, talent cultivation, and discipline construction, discussed in detail the curriculum settings of artificial intelligence and mathematics majors, and jointly determined the steps and timelines for applying for the Sino-foreign cooperative education project for an AI and mathematics undergraduate major. Liu Bo said that the University of Technology Sydney has the top-ranked artificial intelligence institute in Australia, while our university has strong capabilities in intelligent mining, intelligent manufacturing, and intelligent construction. Mathematics is the foundation of artificial intelligence, and our university's mathematics discipline ranks in the top 1% globally in the ESI rankings. The joint establishment of a Sino-foreign cooperative education project for an AI and mathematics undergraduate major will surely actively promote the interdisciplinary integration and development of the two universities, as well as the cultivation of high quality innovative talents. After the meeting, the two universities, together with AEMG Education Group, signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding for cooperation.
