Recently, in accordance with the Phase II of the China Science and Technology Journals Excellence Action Plan (2024–2028), the Office of the China Science and Technology Journals Excellence Action Plan announced the projects selected for the 2025 Phase II High-Starting-Point New Journals Program. Following review and evaluation by the China Association for Science and Technology and relevant experts, a total of 70 projects were selected, including 65 English-language high-starting-point new journals and 5 Chinese-language high-starting-point new journals. Deep Energy, an international English-language journal sponsored by the University, has been selected as a “High-Starting-Point New Journal” in the 2025 China Science and Technology Journals Excellence Action Plan. This selection represents strong recognition of the University’s efforts in developing English-language scientific journals and is expected to significantly promote the journal’s high-quality development.

The journal Deep Energy is jointly sponsored by the University and the China Nonferrous Metals Society. Ge Shirong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Derek Elsworth, Member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, will serve as Editors-in-Chief. The journal is scheduled to launch in 2026. Closely aligned with China’s “dual-carbon” goals, the journal will respond to major national priorities in green and sustainable development. It will focus on the interdisciplinary integration of deep energy development, deep clean energy, and intelligent systems, with the aim of advancing scientific and technological innovation in the field of deep energy and providing intellectual support and policy insights for China’s energy transition.
