Three Consecutive National First Prizes! Our Students Claim the First Prize in the National Final of the National College Students’ Chemical Engineering Experiment Competition

Recently, the National Final of the 9th National College Students’ Chemical Engineering Experiment Competition, the “EastSim · Oubeier” Cup, hosted by the China Chemical Education Association and organized by Zhengzhou University, was held in Zhengzhou. The team “ChemE Never Yields” from China University of Mining and Technology-Beijing claimed the Special Prize of the North China Division with the overall first ranking and won the First Prize in the national final. This marks the third consecutive year that students from our university have secured the national First Prize in this competition.

The National College Students’ Chemical Engineering Experiment Competition is a major event included in the Ranking of National Discipline Competitions for General Higher Education Institutions.The competition, themed “Setting Sail-Chemical Engineers”, consists of three modules: theoretical principles of chemical engineering, simulation operation and analysis of chemical units, and chemical engineering principle experiments. It seeks to inspire students’ passion for their major and enhance higher education’s ability to serve the chemical sector. For this edition, more than 2,700 teams from 365 universities nationwide registered for the event. After rigorous selection across six competition divisions, 84 teams stood out and advanced to the national final. Following evaluation across all competition modules, the jury presented 12 Special Prizes, 30 First Prizes and 42 Second Prizes. Our university’s team ChemE Never Yields came 13th overall, marking the school’s best-ever finish at the event.

The university prioritizes competition organization and the development of students’ engineering practical skills. This achievement attests to our chemical engineering students’ sound professional expertise and hands-on engineering skills. It also illustrates the positive outcomes of the university’s efforts to advance experimental teaching reform, strengthen students’ foundational knowledge and foster their innovation capacity. Moving ahead, the university will leverage academic competitions to refine its practical education framework and nurture more innovative, well-trained professionals to drive high-quality development in the energy sector.
