The Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and Zhongguancun Science Park Administration aim to elevate the academic influence and global competitiveness of Beijing’s international scientific journals, foster a group of world-class sci-tech journals, and build a high-quality journal development system that underpins the construction of Beijing International Science and Technology Innovation Center and supports the country’s high-level sci-tech self-reliance. Guided by the Measures for the Administration of Special Funds for Improving the International Development Level of the Zhongguancun National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone, the authority advances the construction of high-level international sci-tech journals via two major initiatives: new journal cultivation and existing journal upgrading.

The list of proposed projects for the 2026 High-Level International Sci-Tech Journal Development Program has been recently publicized. Deep Energy, an English journal hosted by China University of Mining and Technology-Beijing and published by Youke Publishing, has been selected into the program’s new journal incubation category for 2026. Responding to China’s dual-carbon goals and major national strategic demands for green and sustainable development, the journal explores interdisciplinary integration among deep energy development, advanced clean energy and intelligent energy systems. It is dedicated to driving scientific and technological innovation in the field of deep energy, and providing intellectual support and decision-making references for China’s energy strategic transformation. This latest selection represents a significant milestone in the journal’s development journey, following its recognition in the 2025 National Outstanding Action Plan for High-caliber New English Journals. It will substantially accelerate the journal’s progress toward becoming a world-class scientific journal.
