The 35th Annual Meeting of The Society for Organic Petrology (TSOP) jointly sponsored by CUMTB and CUMT was held in Beijing from August 17 to 21. Xu Xiaomin, Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of CUMTB, delivered the welcome address. Then Liu Bo, Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of CUMT, and Thomas Gentzis, Chairman of TSOP, made speeches in succession. This Meeting was presided over by Prof. Dai Shifeng, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Distinguished Professor of Cheung Kong Scholars Program, with its themes covering the unconventional natural gas resources (coalbed methane, shale gas, oil shale, and natural gas hydrate), coal geology and geochemistry, coal petrology, coal resources and utilization, as well as new technologies and applications of oil and gas geology. Over 200 peers and experts from more than 10 countries including the U.S., Australia, U.K., Tunisia, Bulgaria, Canada, Germany, Indonesia, Colombia, Pakistan and China attended this Meeting.
