Recently,the International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM) decided on the First International “Scientific Achievement Award” in rock mechanics. Zuo Jianping, a professor at CUMTB and President of the Mining Rock Mechanics Branch of the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering received this honor.

Science and Technology Award of International Society of Rock Mechanics(ISRM) was proposed in September 2019 by He Manchao, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), chairman of ISRM China National Group and Vice Chairman of ISRM, at a meeting of the PresidiuminBrazil. After discussion of the presidium, the award was formally approved, with two sub-awards,“Scientific Achievement Award”and“Technological Invention Award”, building a platform for young scholars.

Zuo jianping is the first scholar to win this award in the world. The award ceremony will be held at the ISRM annual conference in Tron ham, Norway, from 12 to 14 October 2020. The award will be presented with a certificate signed by the President of ISRM.
