Vice President Wang Jiachen Attends Farewell Gathering for Foreign Teacher Terry Swift

On the afternoon of June 23, the farewell gathering for the foreign teacher Terry Swift was held in Room 200 of the 1stOffice Building. Vice President Wang Jiachen attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Dean of School of Law & Humanities, and representatives of teachers and students from the Foreign Language Department were also present.
In his speech, Wang Jiachen expressed gratitude to Terry for his contributions to foreign language teaching and the training of English majors at our university over the past twelve years. He acknowledged the importance of oral English teaching, emphasized the significance of enhancing non-governmental academic exchanges between China and the United States as the world's two major economies, and expressed the hope that Terry would visit the university more often in the future.
Yang Ying, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, gave Terry full recognition for his work over the years. Yin Zhaoliang, Dean of the School of Law & Humanities, expressed gratitude to Terry for his strong support and contributions to the foreign language teaching in School of Law & Humanities. Xu Huiyan, Vice Dean of the School of Law & Humanities, reminisced about the various experiences of working with Terry, thanking him for his diligent efforts and contributions to the approval of the English major as a Beijing-level first-class program in 2021. Jia Peipei, Head of the Foreign Language Department, provided an overview of Terry's teaching work, expressing gratitude for his efforts in discipline development. Student representatives Mu Zijun and Wang Zi’an also spoke in succession, expressing their thanks and reluctance to part with Terry.
In response to everyone's gratitude and affirmation, Terry expressed his heartfelt thanks. He appreciated everyone's warmth and support and offered insightful suggestions for the development of oral English teaching at CUMTB.
Terry Swift is an American teacher who has been serving as a foreign oral English teacher at CUMTB since 2010. He is known for his diligent and responsible work, employing a lively and engaging teaching style that has earned him the admiration of both students and faculty. Over the past twelve years, Terry Swift has actively contributed to the translation and proofreading of the university's English promotional materials and has provided voiceovers for the university's English promotional videos.
