On July 23, the 2022 International Conference on Green Intelligent Mining for Thick Coal Seam and the academic conference commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Longwall Top-Coal Caving Mining in China were held in Beijing. The conference was sponsored by China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), China Coal Society, and China Coal Technology & Engineering Group (CCTEG) Mining Research Institute Co., LTD. It was jointly organized by several renowned mining universities globally and served as a Top Academic Conference (TAC) of the China Association for Science and Technology in 2022. The conference adopted a hybrid format, combining both in-person and online participation, featuring presentations from 60 academicians and scholars from China, the United States, Russia, Germany, Australia, Canada, Brazil, and other countries.
Distinguished guests, including Ge Shirong, President of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Cai Meifeng, Professor at the University of Science and Technology Beijing and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Kang Hongpu, Chairman of CCTEG Mining Research Institute Co., LTD. and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Liu Feng, President of China Coal Society; Liu Xingping, Minister of the Science and Technology Department of China Association for Science and Technology; Professor Yang Renshu, President of the University of Science and Technology Beijing; Zhu Deren, former Vice President of China Coal Industry Association; Professor Qiao Jianyong, former President of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications; Meng Fanxing, Vice President of Beijing Association for Science and Technology; Professor Wang Weijun, Vice President of Hunan University of Science and Technology; Professor Wu Aixiang, former Vice President of the University of Science and Technology Beijing; and Wang Xibo, Project Director of the Metallurgical and Mining Discipline of the National Natural Science Foundation, attended the opening ceremony. Professor Wang Jiachen, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Vice President of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), presided over and delivered a report on the "40 Years of Longwall Top-Coal Caving (LTCC) in China".
The conference, spanning 2.5 days, featured a keynote report unit, three invited report units, and a postgraduate forum unit. Combining high-level academic discussions with advanced talent development, the conference provided a valuable platform for academic exchange for graduate students both domestically and internationally, leading to highly beneficial explorations.
