CUMTB Student Makes Historic Breakthrough in Yau College Student Mathematics Contest

In a recent victory, CUMTB student Ye Zhenyu, a 2019 Mathematics and Applied Mathematics major, clinches the Individual Prize in Geometry and Topology at the2022Shing-Tung Yau College Student Mathematics Contest, marking CUMTB's inaugural breakthrough in the competition.
Launched by Professor Shing-Tung Yau,the Shing-Tung Yau College Student Mathematics Contest aims to comprehensively evaluate students' mathematical knowledge, skills, and capabilities, fostering reform in Chinese university mathematics education. The contest covers a range of subjects, including Analysis and Partial Differential Equations, Geometry and Topology, Algebra and Number Theory, Applied and Computational Mathematics, Probability and Statistics. The questions and outline are crafted by top mathematicians globally, led by Prof. Shing-Tung Yau, comparable in scope and difficulty to postgraduate qualification exams in renowned foreign universities. The competition features regional written tests and final interviews, with internationally acclaimed experts, including those from Cambridge and Harvard, serving as judges.
