Recently, Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (CSTAM) revealed the outcomes of the 14th National Zhou Peiyuan Mechanics Competition. Our undergraduate students performed exceptionally well, securing 1 first prize, 4 third prizes and 12 honorable mentions. Notably, Zhang Haoran, an undergraduate student from School of Mechanics and Civil Engineering, clinched the national first prize, marking a significant milestone as our university's undergraduates achieved the top honor in the Zhou Peiyuan Mechanics Competition for the first time.
On September 3rd, Vice President Liu Bo, Dean Zuo Jianping, Vice Dean Liu Dejun, and Mechanics Department Head Zhu Jie, from School of Mechanics and Civil Engineering, individually presented awards to students who achieved the first prize, third prize, and honorable mention in the 14th National Zhou Peiyuan Mechanics Competition.
The 14th National Zhou Peiyuan Mechanics Competition was held simultaneously in major cities across the country on May 21, 2023. A total of 30,443 participants from 30 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions nationwide registered for the competition. Zhou Peiyuan, a foundational figure in modern Chinese mechanics, lends his name to this national-level event commissioned by the Ministry of Education's Higher Education Division. It is jointly organized by Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics and the Chou Pei-yuan Foundation, standing as the highest-level competition in the field of mechanics in China, held biennially. In each edition, five individuals receive the special award, with a 0.2% award rate for the first prize and a 0.3% award rate for the second prize.
