In 2023, a number of national-level and Beijing university foreign language competitions came to a close, with several students from CUMTB achieving their best results in the events, winning numerous national and provincial awards.
Our university adheres to the philosophy of promoting teaching and learning through competitions. With the collaborative efforts of the Academic Affairs Office and relevant schools, and the combined efforts of instructors from the Foreign Language Department of School of Law and Humanities as well as all the participants, our students achieved remarkable success in the “FLTRP·ETIC Cup--Understanding Contemporary China” National Foreign Language Contest for College Students. One student won the national silver medal, while one won the gold medal, six won silver medals, and six won bronze medals in Beijing. Pan Chenglong from School of Law and Humanities won the national silver medal in the “FLTRP·ETIC Cup--Understanding Contemporary China” National Foreign Language Contest for College Students Interpretation Contest. This marks our university's first participation in the national contest for this event with a silver medal, which realizes its significant breakthrough in foreign language competitions.
In 2023, CUTMB organized the “FLTRP·ETIC Cup--Understanding Contemporary China" National Foreign Language Contest for College Students. This competition encompassed a series of events including reading, writing, speech, translation, and interpretation. It is the only B-level competition of foreign language disciplines listed in our university's competition directory.
Over 2400 students from our university participated in various foreign language competitions and achieved remarkable results after careful preparations. In the “SFLEP Cup” Beijing College Youth International Competency Competition, our team won the first prize in Beijing. Additionally, in the English Speech Contest for Beijing College Students, our students secured the third prize. Moreover, six students from our university achieved the first prize in Beijing in the National English Competition for College Students, while in the SFLEP “VocabGo Cup” National English Vocabulary Competition for College Students, our students won the second prize in the undergraduate non-English major group. These outstanding achievements in foreign language competitions not only reflect the success of our university's competition initiatives but also provide a practical pathway for further enhancing students' foreign language competition skills. In the future, the university will continue to use foreign language competitions as a platform to promote teaching and learning, contributing to the establishment of a world-class energy science and technology university.
