On the afternoon of September 19, Sylvia Schattauer, President of Clausthal University of Technology in Germany, visited our university with Zhengmeng Hou, the university's China Affairs Commissioner and Director of the China Competence Center, Leonard Ganzer, Director of the Institute for Underground Energy Systems, and Ke Li, a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Underground Energy Systems. President Liu Bo met with the delegation, accompanied by representatives from the Lixing College, the School of Energy and Mining Engineering, and the International Office.

Liu Bo first extended a warm welcome to Sylvia Schattauer and her delegation. He mentioned that Clausthal University of Technology has been a friendly cooperative partner of our university for many years. Professors from both universities have engaged in substantive cooperation in joint student training, scientific research, and academic exchanges, fostering deep friendships. Earlier this year, the two universities also jointly held the Sino-European Circular Economy Forum. He hopes that in the future, both sides can further strengthen cooperation in scientific and technological exchanges and talent cultivation in areas such as clean energy like hydrogen, new energy science and engineering, energy green transition, and resource recycling.

Sylvia Schattauer expressed heartfelt gratitude for Liu Bo's reception. She noted that next year marks the 250thanniversary of the founding of Clausthal University of Technology. The university has transformed from its original mining school into the first circular economy university in Europe. There is great potential for cooperation and research between the two universities in the field of sustainable energy systems. She sincerely invited Liu Bo to lead a delegation to Germany next year to participate in the university's anniversary celebrations.

Clausthal University of Technology originated as a mining and foundry school established by Henning Calvoer. It became a mining academy in 1864. In 1968, the university expanded its disciplines (chemistry, physics, mathematics, mechanical engineering) and saw a significant increase in the number of enrolled students. Clausthal University of Technology ranks among the top universities in Germany in terms of teaching and research quality, with renowned programs in metallurgy, energy systems engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, mining, and petroleum engineering.
