Recently, the final of the 11th National College Students' Practical and Innovative Works Competition on Safety Science and Engineering was held at Chongqing University. Vice President, Prof. Wang Kai and Dean of the College of Emergency Management and Safety Engineering, Prof. Wu Jiansong led the team to compete. With solid professional foundation and outstanding innovation ability, our teachers and students achieved excellent results - three first prizes, three third prizes, and the University was also awarded the "Outstanding Organization Award", fully demonstrating its teaching effectiveness and talent cultivation strength in the field of safety science and engineering.
The competition was hosted by the Society of Public Safety Science and Technology, co-hosted by the Teaching Steering Committee of Safety Science and Engineering of the Ministry of Education and the China Occupational Safety and Health Association, and organized by Chongqing University. With the theme of "Safety Innovation Power · Intelligent Protection of the Future", it set up two tracks: "Safety Physical Works and Models" and "Safety Software and Simulation Works". Since its launch, the competition has received an enthusiastic response from universities across the country. After several rounds of competition including preliminary recommendation, review, communication review and final review by universities, 378 entries from 79 universities across the country were selected to enter the semi-finals. A total of 39 first prizes, 58 second prizes and 82 third prizes were awarded, and 34 universities received the "Outstanding Organization Award".
In order to fully demonstrate the University's professional strength and characteristics in the field of safety and emergency response in this competition, the School of Emergency Management and Safety Engineering made meticulous preparations and organized carefully, and the relevant departments of the school provided all-round support and guarantee. Three teams advanced to the finals: "Anran Wuyang - A Fully Intelligent Forest Fire Prevention System Based on Cloud Platform", "A Method for Early Warning and Prevention of Coal Spontaneous Combustion in Goaf Mining under the Method of leaving Roadway along the Void", and "Intelligent Safety Cloud-Edge Collaborative System for Human Cause Accidents and Portable Single Terminal". The three works focused on the core pain points in the field of safety, were scientifically designed and highly practical, and were unanimously recognized by the judges of the competition.
For a long time, CUMTB has always adhered to the educational concept of "promoting teaching, learning and innovation through competitions", continuously improving the scientific and technological innovation education system. By building competition platforms, optimizing practical teaching links and strengthening school-enterprise collaborative innovation, it has created a favorable atmosphere for scientific and technological innovation for students, helping them grow into high-quality talents serving the field of national security. In the future, the University will continue to deepen the construction of the discipline of safety science and engineering, promote the transformation and application of more innovative achievements, and contribute the strength of higher education to the development of national emergency safety.
