The World’s Top 2% Scientists list is jointly developed by Elsevier and the research team led by Professor John P. A. Ioannidis at Stanford University. The database is publicly available on Mendeley Data, a data repository operated by Elsevier. The ranking is based on citation data from Scopus and is generated through systematic analysis using six key citation indicators: total citations, Hirsch h-index, co-authorship adjusted Schreiber Hm-index, citations to single-authored papers, citations to papers where the scientist is single or first author, and citations to papers where the scientist is single, first, or last author. Covering 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields, the database provides a metric for assessing scientists’ long-term research performance and offers a more objective and comprehensive reflection of their scientific impact.
